“LI GELIYÊ ÇATÊ TAV DIZIRIQΔ: TOPOGENY Û NEXŞEYA DEVKÎ DI KILAMA ELÎ XARZA DE

Year 2021, Issue: 3, 11 - 25, 20.06.2021

Abstract

Navê cihan, bi wateyên xwe yên sosyo-çandî û sembolîk ve, bi fonksiyona xwe ya bîranîna raborî û veguhastina çanda devkî ve parçeyekî bi qîmet ê mîrasa çandî ne. Nav tenê bi taybetmendiyên xwe yên dewlemend ên bibîrxistinê ve di jiyana rojane de ji bo merivan bi rola xwe ya civakî ranabin, herwiha ew di dewamdariya nasnameya çandî de jî roleke giring digêrin. Têgeha “topogeny”yê ku ji aliyê James Fox ve hatiye dariştin, ji bo wan cure vegêranan tê bikaranîn ku bi rengekî seredorî navê cihan tê de rêz dibin û vegêranên wihareng di hin kilamên kurdî de jî tên dîtin. Ev vegêranên topojenîk ku di çanda devkî ya kurdî de tên dîtin, zanînên çandî û dîrokî destedewrî nifşên nû dikin û wan li ser erdê dineqişînin. Di vê çarçoveyê de, ev xebat ku cextê dibe ser vegêranên dîrokî û topojenîk ên ku bi rêya navan li ser erdê tên kodkirin û wekî nimûne kilama dirêj a bi navê “Elî Xarza” dinirxîne. Ev kilam li ser qewimîneke dawiya sedsala 19an hatiye gotin ku tê de Hemze Beg (xal) lê dixebite Elî (xwarzî) ji destê eskeran xelas bike ku wê demê mehkûm/girtî bûye. Rev û rêwitiya di kilamê de ya ku ji Makûyê heta Erziromê bi awayekî seredorî tê vegêrandin û strandina navê gund, bajar, çem û zozanan pêk tê, nimûneyeke wê diyardeyê pêk tîne ku Fox wekî “topogeny”yê bi nav kiriye.

“Li Geliyê Çatê Tav Diziriqî”: Topogeny and Oral Maps in the Kilam of ‘Elî Xarza’

Year 2021, Issue: 3, 11 - 25, 20.06.2021

Abstract

Place names are a valuable part of cultural heritage with their sociocultural and symbolic meanings, the function of reminding the past, and carrying oral culture. Names not only maintain their social roles for people in daily life with their rich associative features, but also play an important role in the maintenance of cultural identity. Place names have a significant place in Kurdish oral narratives, especially in kilams(a kind of Kurdish folkloric song). Kurdish kilams involve ‘oral maps’ and narrative forms created by place names. This study aims to reveal the roles and functions of the place names in the Kurdish oral culture. ‘Topogeny’, the term coined by James Fox to refer an ordered succession of place names in regard to spatial flow of the story, is seen in some Kurdish kilams. Topogenic narrative forms emerged in Kurdish oral narrations function as transmitting the knowledge that has cultural and historical importance, and encoding that knowledge on the space. This study, which emphasizes on the importance of historical and topogenic narrations treated through the names, examines the long kilam “Eli Xarza” (Eli the Nephew, includes 160 place names) whose topic is on the breaking out of prisoner Eli in the later 19th century. The travel from Maku city of Iran to Erzurum through which the names of the villages, towns, rivers and highlands are sung and narrated in an ordered sequence is an example of what Fox has named a ‘topogeny’.

“Li Geliyê Çatê Tav Diziriqî”: ‘Elî Xarza’ Kılamında Topogeny ve Sözlü Harita

Year 2021, Issue: 3, 11 - 25, 20.06.2021
