Abstract
Bizans’ta ikonalarla ilgili sekizinci ve dokuzuncu yüzyıllarda yaşanan çatışma araştırmacılar için her zaman ilgi çekici fakat aynı zamanda izah etmesi olduk-ça zor bir mevzu olmuştur. Problemin düğüm noktası ise ikonoklast harekete yol açan temel etkenin ne olduğudur. Bu konuda pek çok faklı görüş ortaya atılmıştır ve İslam etkisi de bu bağlamda sıkça dile getirilen bir husustur. Bu makalenin amacı önce Bizans ikonoklazmının muhtemel nedenlerini ele almak, ardından İslam etkisinin imkanı ve mahiyeti ile ilgili bir değerlendirme yapmak-tır.

Abstract
For the researchers, the conflict over icons in Byzantium in the eighth and ninth centuries has always been an interesting question but also a difficult one to explain. Crucial point of the issue is what was the essential motive that led to the iconoclastic movement. Many different assumptions have been made, and the influence of Islam also frequently has been mentioned in this context. Thus it is the aim of this article firstly to examine likely causes of Byzantine Iconoc-lasm and then to make an assessment on the possibility of Islamic influence and its nature.
