COVID-19 pandemisine bağlı karantina sürecinin ergenlerin gelecek beklentileri ve anksiyete düzeylerine etkisi

Year 2021, Volume: 4 Issue: 7, 12 - 23, 27.06.2021

Abstract

The effect of the quarantine process due to the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescents' future expectations and anxiety levels

Year 2021, Volume: 4 Issue: 7, 12 - 23, 27.06.2021

Abstract

Purpose: This study was conducted as a descriptive study in order to determine the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the future expectations and anxiety level of adolescents.
Material and Methods: The sample of the study consists of a total of 253 participants. It was conducted as an online cross-sectional self-report questionnaire between April 2020 and August 2020. Research data were collected by using Personal Information Form, Beck Anxiety Inventory and Adolescent Future Expectation Scale.
Results: 8.7% of the participants stated that they and 30.4% of their families got coronavirus disease, and 63.6% of them stated that they needed mental support during the quarantine process. It was determined that the adolescent Future Expectations Scale and Beck Anxiety Inventory total mean scores of the adolescents included in the study were moderate. A moderate, negative, statistically significant difference was found between the participants' mean score of the Adolescent Future Expectations Scale and Beck Anxiety Inventory.
Conclusion: In conclusion, it was determined that the quarantine process caused by COVID-19 negatively affected the anxiety levels and future expectations of adolescents.
