Bio
Yılmaz Özdil was born in Hakkari (1979). After his master's degree at the University Pantheon Sorbonne, in 2013 he defended his doctoral thesis entitled "The visual construction of Kurdish identities in cinema" at the University Sorbonne Nouvelle. He directed several documentaries and worked as an assistant director in several films shot in Turkey, Iraq and France. He is currently working at Mardin Artuklu University as an assistant professor. Barê Giran is his first fiction film as a director.
